The MAPS Performer Process will enable you to do this.
Your workforce development plan (WDP) must set out how your partnership will meet the NTA targets for 2008. Specifically, your plan should show how you will accredit workers and managers to the required standard and, put into place across your partnership, systems and procedures to support and sustain competence and capability for the future.
In short, you need to:
1. Have a WDP that sets out what you’re going to do and how you’re going to do it
2. Achieve the required targets for workers and engage managers in a professional development award
3. Ensure that providers keep the momentum going by meeting the following 12 points:
1. Define jobs in terms of National Occupational Standards (NOS)
2. Recruit and select people using NOS
3. Provide NOS-based induction training
4. Identify individual learning needs using NOS
5. Create individual personal and professional development plans
6. Provide learning opportunities to meet priority learning needs
7. Supervise individuals to ensure they perform to the standards
8. Develop assessor capacity within the partnership/region
9. Assess individuals' performance and accredit this through NVQs
10. Provide career pathways for individuals
11. Retain individuals within the partnership
12. Monitor and report on progress on the workforce development strategy
